Şırnak University Sociology Club, in collaboration with Şırnak University and Beytüşşebap Municipality, organized an event that was intertwined with nature and had strong cultural and social aspects. The trip to Faraşin Plateau with the participation of club members, academics and local administrators was an enjoyable experience for the students.
The event aimed to get to know the social structure, cultural texture and natural beauties of the region up close. The walks and sociological observations carried out in the unique nature of the plateau allowed the students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with field experience.
Sociology Club Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Yıldırım, who organized the trip, emphasized in his statement that such events contribute to the development of students' social skills as well as their academic development. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yıldırım said, “Sociology is learned not only in books; it is learned in the field, wherever people live. This trip was an important opportunity for our students to make field observations.”
As part of the trip organized with the contributions of Beytüşşebap Mayor Kamil Durmuş, vehicles were provided from the district to Faraşin Plateau and lunch was also served to the students. Deputy Mayor Abdulkerim Ulaş, who provided the organization and accompanied the trip, stated in his speech that they were pleased with the interest of the youth in the region and said, “We value such collaborations. The promotion of our plateau and this connection established with the youth are very valuable to us.”
